(cups-pdf, mojave) printer does not show up in system-wide print-settings

Description

Hello ,

on Mac OS Mojave i have installed CUPS-PDF via Macports however the printer would not show up in Print Settings.

i then run as per suggested 

          /opt/local/libexec/cups-pdf_links.sh

sudo killall -1 cupsd

and 

ln -s /opt/local/var/spool/cups-pdf/$USER ~/Desktop/cups-pdf

this would create a shortcut named 

cups-pdf

on desktop, however upon clicking message appears 

The operation can’t be completed because the original item for “cups-pdf” can’t be found.
