Description
Tracking ticket for work related to updating Mame to utilize macports-libcxx on 10.13 and earlier. This would provide our users with the latest Mame release on older macOS versions, which is not possible with the host-provided libcxx.

Upstream has emphasized that they'll continue to expand usage of frameworks and APIs only available on macOS 10.14. And without a lot of shims and/or compatibility layers - which could be a nightmare to maintain - this is essentially untenable.
Closing as wontfix.

This goal may no longer be feasible, as later versions of Mame now depend on macOS frameworks/features only available in 10.14 and later. However, perhaps there may be a way to sidestep that a bit, depending on how the code is written.
Leaving this open for now, until more investigation has been done.
