port @2.7.1 cleans when upgrading although asked via -sk not to do so

Description

port -vd upgrade -sk imlib2 cleans in the build directory although it should keep it. Proved a few times on Big Sur, Version 11.5.

I think the -sk needs to be in between port and upgrade.

Yes, only long options that apply to the action can be given after the action name.

port -vd build -sk imlib2 worked fine – so it's presumingly a side-effect or normal action that no cleaning follows the build action. port -vdsk upgrade imlib2 works indeed as intended. Thank you!
