libquadmath doesn't build for PowerPC, how to adapt existing patch?

Description
There is a patch for PowerPC Linux to make libquadmath build: https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/project/gcc/patch/20170816030601.GA18844@ibm-tiger.the-meissners.org/#1759767 However using the same on Mac does not work: gcc builds, but libquadmath still lacking.
