cmake-devel is updated very frequently. Last was two weeks ago.

If you want it even faster, the way to help with that would be to generate a PR rather than a ticket.

Agreed. Though bear in mind that the project just released RC4, and there's a good chance that the GA release is coming very soon.

Just as importantly, cmake-devel was created to proactively test GA releases, rather than betas or RCs.

So rather than try to keep up, it would be preferable to simply wait another week or two.

Then I was mistaken, and feel free to close this.

I was looking to test not-yet-released versions. There seems to be a significant change in the handling of transitive dependencies between 3.22.3 and 3.23 release candidates.

Replying to szhorvat:

Thanks for the heads-up, and we'll certainly update the Devel port as soon as it's released.

Michael, we may want to delay updating the non-Devel port, until we've had a chance to verify that 3.23 doesn't cause any breakage.

I compiled 3.23RC4 now (independently of MacPorts), and the behaviour is now the same as with 3.22.3. It must have been a bug in RC3.

In 40237cb4a80044fb114899c29e4b9950c5e4fef0/macports-ports (master):

cmake-devel: update to 3.23.0-rc5

Closes: #64866

Updated to 3.23.0-rc5 ... doesn't pass all tests when built within MacPorts, but that's not a surprise since some always fail due to MP-isms.
