postgresql14-server: startupitem can't be used with different database path

Description
I have installed the server and client, created a database, set the owner and group to "postgres".
The included instructions say to start the server with this command:
"sudo port load postgresql14-server"
The only process runs is daemondo. It has the process id, shown by "launchctl list", as belonging to the org.macports.postgresql14-server launch item. There are no "postgresql" processes (or anything remotely similar). Trying to connect locally fails. The postgres.log file is empty.
Does daemondo log errors anywhere?

The problem was that I used a different path to the database cluster. I didn't realize that the value in the note was hard-coded into the helper.
