It has to be either tar or lbzip2 failing, and since the tar output seems to indicate it runs to completion, I would suspect lbzip2.

Ticket can be closed, the problem is not related to any port in particular. If anyone experiences the same, simply re-running
sudo port install1–2 times more solves the problem. It is unclear what causes it.
