diy asks for Clang on 10.6.8 Rosetta, where Clang is unavailable (as on PPC generally): 

macmini: svacchanda$ sudo port -v install diy
--->  Computing dependencies for diy......
The following dependencies will be installed: 
 clang-11
 clang_select
 libomp
 llvm-11
 mpich-clang11
Continue? [Y/n]: n

If diy is known not to work with GCC libgomp, it should be restricted to systems having Clang or otherwise to non-PPC archs. Otherwise, I guess, it should choose GCC and libgomp when `cxx_stdlib eq "libstdc++".
