ffcall 2.4_0+universal fails on M1

Installing ffcall via port install ffcall compiles fine on M1 Ventura, installing however via port install ffcall +universal fails with "Error: Failed to configure" with /opt/local/var/macports/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_macports_release_tarballs_ports_devel_ffcall/ffcall/main.log containing:

It seems unlikely that that is the relevant error in config.log. Please attach the config.log so we can take a look.
