Description
I ran "sudo port sync" followed by "sudo port upgrade outdated." This process worked well before, but I suddenly got the following error:
Error: Unable to open port: invalid command name "extract.rename"
Error: Follow https://guide.macports.org/#project.tickets if you believe there is a bug.
I'd appreciate it if someone could give me a tip to fix this error.

You're using the current ports tree with an old version of base, which is not supported. The fix is to update to MacPorts 2.8.1. (If you have to use the old version for some reason, you also have to use a contemporaneous version of the ports tree.)
Note: See
TracTickets for help on using
tickets.

You'll need to upgrade to MacPorts 2.8.1. Run
sudo port selfupdateto do that, or download and run the installer from our web site.
