#30616 assigned defect

xymon, xymon-server: use the right compiler and architectures

Reported by: ryandesign (Ryan Schmidt) Owned by:
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 1.9.2
Keywords: Cc:
Port: xymon-client xymon-server

xymon doesn't ensure it's UsingTheRightCompiler; it ignores changes the user makes to build_arch in macports.conf; and if you install it with the +universal variant, the resulting software is not actually universal.

I'll correct the Portfiles in the next xymon update.

I've corrected xymon client to take into account non-default compilers. Doing the same on xymon-server is too hard and requires too much changes in the config/install scripts. I submitted the Portfiles and patch in #31718.

I've added a note to the xymon-server howto page (wiki:howto/SetupXymonServer) explaining there's no support for non-default compilers with xymon-server. I hope this is acceptable and will be enough to close this ticket.

I also removed the universal variant. Whenever users require its support I'll see what can be done.

Has duplicate #33178.

Have you reported the problem to the developers of xymon? It's really their responsibility to fix this.

Port: xymon-client added; xymon removed

I'm not sure if this is still needed for xymon-client but it certainly is not for xymon.
