Description
Currently the xulrunner project stable version has gone through several version upgrades. Would like for the macports provided version be upgraded to latest stable version. Thank you.

Mozilla developers have not been very careful about differentiating between Cocoa and Darwin in their code. Every update was painful to fix and file bugs about. If you want newer versions of xulrunner, you're going to need to step up to maintain it.

Ok, let me see what's the response with the Mozilla people, to see why is it that their dropping the support for the platform.

They're not dropping support for it. They just never really supported it in the first place. Almost all of their developers assume darwin == cocoa, and I gave up filing tons of bug reports with every new release.

I've done some research and talk to some people at Mozilla and it seems that they are moving away from XUL so in a not that distant future they can see dropping Xulrunner all together. As they are pushing their "Open Web Apps" Platform that can do local app installation. So it seems that their momentum on the framework it's getting lost so the reason to keep supporting the package is not necessary. Thank you for your replies have a nice day.

By definition, the xulrunner-devel port is for development versions of the software. The latest stable version should be in the xulrunner port.
