#51150 closed defect (worksforme)

texlive @2015 Does not include biblatex-chicago (or any other biblatex-*)

Reported by: thomasrussellmurphy (Thomas Russell Murphy) Owned by: drkp (Dan Ports)
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 2.3.4
Keywords: Cc:
Port: texlive

Description

CTAN says that biblatex-chicago is included in texlive: https://www.ctan.org/pkg/biblatex-chicago?lang=en However, from looking in /opt/local/share/texmf-texlive/tex/latex/, there are none of the biblatex-* entries as seen in https://www.tug.org/svn/texlive/trunk/Master/texmf-dist/tex/latex/

I have installed texlive@2015 and texlive-latex-extra@37398 on my system, but still '\usepackage{biblatex-chicago}' fails due to the missing biblatex-* files in the content installed by the texlive ports.

Additionally: it seems that biblatex is entirely missing from texlive. Installation of biblatex-biber @2.1_3+perl5_22 (recommended for use with biblatex-chicago) does not seem to correct this.

The workaround is, of course, manual installation of the required material from CTAN and I'm putting my additional sources in /Users/<username>/Library/texmf/tex/latex/local/

In the future, please Cc the port maintainers (port info --maintainers texlive), if any.

Please close. The desired biblatex-chicago is provided by texlive-bibtex-extra. https://trac.macports.org/wiki/TeXLivePackages

Also note that biber is in the biblatex-biber package, if you want it. It's not installed by default because it has a lot of dependencies.

That made my list of things to install after looking through relevant packages and requirements for biblatex-chicago. I successfully have a start of a template document using '\usepackage[notes,backend=biber]{biblatex-chicago}'.

Thanks.
