trac: modifying existing ticket doesn't offer previously available functionality

I just noticed that I can't modify a ticket's content anymore as it was previously possible. I wanted to change the owner and cc, but those fields weren't made editable at all. In fact I couldn't do any change to any field anymore, but just leave it as assigned.

They are editable for me. Have you been added to the Developers team in the MacPorts GitHub organization yet? IIUC, that's what will increase your Trac access back to what you had on the old system.

No, that hasn't happened yet. I still have to send in my request. Okay, good to know that this is the reason for that.

Yet, perhaps, the ticket owner should get a few more permissions for modifying his/her own initial settings of a ticket? But I do see also counter arguments for that...

Users have requested that many times over the years. I'm not sure if we had the ability to specify permissions at that level before, but we're on a new version of Trac now; maybe it's easier to do that now.

Yeah, well, fossil's internal issue tracker for instance also doesn't allow any changes to the initial entries of a ticket.

Thus it probably makes sense to keep it this way also for MacPorts' trac.

The web hooks that were supposed to deliver the notification failed due to load on the server (a problem we've previously seen causing normal requests to time out as well). I'll try to get that re-delivered.

I've triggered a re-delivery. Did that help? I'll have to enable more debugging options if it didn't.

No change yet. I see on github that I am now part of the Developer Team both in the organization area and in my personal profile. I can log into and out of trac. But not able to edit ticket descriptions or change most properties. For instance, on this ticket, in the Modify Ticket menu, I only see leave as closed and reopen.

I see that github has many levels of access. Could it be a github permissions issue?

I don't think that's the problem. Your account is in the list as expected. I'll check the Trac permissions assigned to this group.

Trac clearly shows the TICKET_APPEND, TICKET_BATCH_MODIFY, TICKET_CHGPROP, TICKET_CREATE, TICKET_EDIT_CC, TICKET_EDIT_DESCRIPTION, TICKET_MODIFY, and TICKET_VIEW permissions for your account. I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

Don't you see a box called "Change Properties" above the "Action" box with the "leave as closed" and "reopen" actions? That's where it allows me to modify ticket properties. Make sure it's not a CSS caching issue by explicitly reloading the page to clear the cache.

Yes, I cleared the cache and logged out and in again and now I've got the desired result. I before I saw only the Action box now Change Properties is there as well.
