Yeah, I pondered that.
Personally, I think an update ticket should contain a patch for an update, not request an update.
I would think that if you want an update, that's a request.
Maybe we need a "request for update" ticket :>

I've gotten as far as I can for now. I'll attach my work in progress. The documentation and examples build, but it never tries to build the programs. I reported my problems to the developers on their mailing list:

Replying to ryandesign:
The documentation and examples build, but it never tries to build the programs.
This was my stupid mistake; forgot to clear autoreconf.args. Now I'll need to discuss various real build failures with the developers.
Note that a "request" ticket type is only for requesting a new port.
