gtk3: M1 Black App Window Background for GTK Apps

Description
Just installed MacPorts 2.7.2 today (2022-10-03) on new Mac Studio (M1 Max, 32 GB RAM) running macOS Monterey. Installed xorg-server using MacPorts. Ran the resulting XQuartz. Both GTK apps I have ported and tried, gnumeric and gedit, turn the body of application window black whenever the mouse is moved (both Apple mouse and non-Apple mouse). This is not the case for pure X apps, such as Xterm and xv. Both of these have no ill effect from mouse motion. From this I deduce that the issue is related to GTK. A fix would be greatly appreciated as all of the GTK apps I have tried are essentially not usable.
