If you installed using the installer downloaded from our web site, it should have set up the PATH for you. If the terminal was open at the time, close it and reopen it.

If you installed from source, or if the installer failed for some reason to set up the PATH automatically, you can do it manually.

Also, youtube-dl has not released a new version in over a year and apparently doesn't work anymore. See #67297. Use yt-dlp instead.

why did it fail ?

You can't close defects unless they are verified. It is unprofessional, and lazy.

I'm a retired software engineer. I didn't tolerate this behavior from my employees.

If you are too lazy to do proper follow up, you should find another career.
