Digikam hangs at "Reading database" on start in Mountain Lion

Description
Mountain Lion10.8.2; Digikam 2.9.0 Initial installs of both MacPorts and Digikam. When opening digikam it hangs and then closes. Usually it shows "reading database..." but occasionally it will hang at "checking ICC repositories"
Install console log is clean. Unfortunately I am ignorant of the digikam log location, if any.

Start digikam from the Terminal with
to get some log information of digikam in log.txt.
Also, are you using the SQLite or the MySQL database backend?
I hope I can help with that information, but I have not upgraded to Mountain Lion and cannot verify the problem myself.
